We’ve all been challenged by Covid-19.  This Pandemic, however, is not the only virus we need to worry about.  Despite all the other distractions happening in our businesses, we cannot take our eye off monitoring for viruses, ransomware, and malware within our cyber infrastructures. 

This Cybersecurity panel presentation will discuss the top priorities including and beyond COVID-19 that businesses are facing.  We will examine the legal and regulatory framework of cybersecurity, insurance risks, and protections as well as types of threats and impending compliance requirements for contractors.

  • Understand the importance of how cyber insurance is viewed and implemented
  • Gain an understanding of the business risk management framework
  • Assess and define risk within the current environment

  • Identify the legal and regulatory framework around privacy and data security laws
  • Understand the impact and importance of privacy, data security, and cyber laws.
  • Understand the new enforcement landscape

IT:

  • Identify common types of cyber attacks and how they impact systems
  • Understand cybersecurity best practices and prevention strategies

Mandy Irvine

CEO, Hoop5 Networks

Mandy is the CEO of Hoop5 Networks and is responsible for the organization's development and continued business relationships between Hoop5 and its strategic partners and customers.  Mandy's business development and sales experience position her as a leader with the creative ability to meet both customer and partner requirements while continuously retooling and architecting the company to stay ahead of ever changing industry requirements.  Mandy has over 20 years of experience in sales and business development providing enterprise software, managed services, and technology consulting to enterprise, mid-market and small businesses.

 Associations: Mandy currently serves on the Board of Directors for the C+C Mentor Protégé Program and Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).  Her current and past involvement include Board of Advisors for Cameron Family YMCA and committee participation for CREW San Diego, San Diego Association of General Contractors (AGC), Women’s Construction Coalition (WCC), Construction Working Minds- Suicide Prevention in the Construction Workplace, and San Diego IT Directors Forum.  Prior to starting Hoop5, Mandy held leadership roles within the IT and technology industry. 

 Education/Certifications: Mandy holds a BS in Business Management and has earned her VMware VSP and VTSP certifications, Microsoft MCSA, Citrix CCSP, Dell Server, Storage and Networking Competencies.

 

Natalie Sherod CPCU, CRM, CIC

Risk Advisor, Cavignac

Natalie is a commercial insurance broker specializing in the middle market sector of San Diego.  She works with her clients to help analyze their risk exposures understand the coverages they have and what is available to them.  She works closely with her clients to determine the best approach to protecting these exposures through risk transfer or risk prevention strategies.  In doing so, she is able to help them not lonely lower insurance costs, but their overall cost of risk in reducing frequency and severity of claims

Prior to joining Cavignac and Associates, Natalie previously served as senior territory manager and commercial lines underwriter for Liberty Mutual in San Diego, where she was employed for eleven-and-a-half years in both an underwriting and marketing capacity.  Her deep knowledge of the industry uniquely positions her clients for best in class practices and coverage 

Natalie is a graduate of San Diego State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She holds a Charter Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, an Associate in Underwriting (AU) designation as well as currently working on obtaining her Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation. 

Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Natalie was involved in the insurance industry at a young age while working part time at her family’s business.  She enjoys living in San Diego and being able to call it home with her husband and two young children. 

 

Elaine Harwell

Senior Counsel and Privacy Officer, Procopio

Elaine F. Harwell is a Co-Leader of Procopio’s Privacy and Cybersecurity practice group and the firm's Privacy Officer. Elaine is an experienced business litigation attorney and a trained privacy professional. Her practice focuses on representing clients in privacy and data security matters, including litigating claims involving privacy issues, helping clients manage emerging risks and conduct privacy risk assessments, and advising on regulatory and compliance issues. Elaine thrives on counseling clients through a complex and ever-changing data privacy landscape and strives to find effective business solutions for clients in every situation.  

Elaine has also been involved in numerous trials as well as arbitration proceedings related to contract and general business disputes, trade secret matters, complex unfair competition and business practice claims, and professional liability. She has earned the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) credentials through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Elaine is also a frequent speaker and writer on legal issues surrounding privacy and data governance.

Elaine is a member of Procopio’s COVID-19 Legal Resources Team.

 

Russell Emig

Director of Security, Hoop5 Networks

As Director of Security, Russ provides strategic guidance and security consulting to Hoop5 customers by working to align business objectives with technology solutions.  Russ works to meet the unique needs of each client by developing IT Security strategies with a focus on DFARS, CMMC, ITAR & NIST compliance.   

Russ has over 18 years of IT and industry experience to include procurement developer with a focus in security for SDG&E, and as a government contractor.

In his free time, Russ enjoys competitive shooting, D&D storytelling, gaming, and reading about the next broken Windows patch.
