San Diego CFMA Meeting: Wage and Other Issues with Telecommuting Employees

Presentation by:

Carole Ross
Ross Employment Law

As telecommuting and flexible workplaces become more common, issues and other legal implications are causing employers additional headaches as they navigate the laws and make decisions that positively impact the business. With benefits for both the employer and the employee also come challenges complying with Fair Labor Standards Act and developing practical policies to deal with the various legal issues arising from a remote workforce.

Please join us as we discuss issues surrounding telecommuting employees that address the following learning objectives:

Understand tracking and reporting of hours worked, to include standby and travel time
Recognize the requirements to provide telecommuting as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Examine possible methods for protecting confidential, proprietary and sensitive information
Understand legal requirement related to providing and/or reimbursing employees for equipment
Identify best practice and suggested components of a legally compliant Telecommuting Agreement

Earn 1.5 CPE Credits in the Field of Specialized Knowledge & Applications. This is a group-live program at the Basic level. No prerequisites or advanced preparation required
