Not Just Blowing Smoke: The Implications of Medical Marijuana in the Construction Workplace.
Presentation by: Kathryn B. Gray, Attorney, Ogletree Deakins
With 23 states and the District of Columbia passing legislation that legalizes marijuana for medical or recreational use, employers are finding themselves negotiating a new landscape with many uncertainties on accommodating these legal changes. Employers are facing issues that will need to be addressed, including possible changes to their policies and procedures, drug testing practices and questions on how to address a positive drug test for employees using medical marijuana under a physician’s care. In this session Kathryn Gray will take us through the laws and their impact on employers, the work place, changes required for compliance, and addressing your company’s safety requirements with particular emphasis on the construction industry.
